Abstract
Metabolism-based toxicity of volatile anesthetic agents has been a concern of anesthesiologists for 4 decades. The introduction of new volatile anesthetics, medical-legal concerns, and new research has led to reexamination of traditionally accepted theories. This chapter provides a framework to interpret the relevant basic and clinical pharmacology of anesthesia toxicity..
