Abstract

Fourier transform 67Zn NMR spectra were obtained on natural abundance samples. 67Zn chemical shifts are reported for a variety of aqueous Zn(II) solutions. The dependence of the 67Zn chemical shift of a Zn(ClO4)2 solution as a function of added Cl- or Br- is analyzed in terms of relevant complexation equilibria. Chemical shift values of ZnX+, ZnX2, ZnX3-, and ZnX42- species (X = Cl- or Br-) are derived and discussed.
