Abstract

The equilibrium defect structure of nonstoichiometric Fe1-δO single crystals has been studied by diffuse neutron scattering, for T ≤ 1423 K and 0.054 ≤ δ ≤ 0.13. The scattering is modeled by Kanzaki forces and a Fourier analysis. Real space simulation of the short-range order yields typical defect cluster-size distributions.
