Abstract

A stormwater system master improvement plan (SSMIP) was discussed in relation to the development of a floodproofing program by a non-national flood insurance program (NFIP) agency. The program addresses administrative, legal, technical policies and procedures. The floodproofing program was coordinated with the NFIP communities within the district's boundaries and with the state emergency management agency. The program provides a homeowner's handbook, policy statement, technical design methodologies, cost estimating procedures, training, and multimedia documents for training engineers and the public.
