Abstract

We demonstrate a label-free biosensor imaging approach that utilizes a photonic-crystal surface to detect attachment of individual nanoparticles down to ~65x30x30nm3. Matching nanoparticle plasmon resonant-frequency to the photonic-crystal resonance substantially increases sensitivity of the approach.
