Abstract

In general, use of clinical laboratory tests during evaluation of children with sleep disorders is infrequent. Although most of the blood or cerebrospinal fluid tests related to specific sleep disorders will be covered in their respective chapters, here we will survey some of them, while also addressing other tests that may be useful in the clinical decision-making process among children referred for assessment of sleep problems. More particularly, the laboratory-based tests of children with sleep problems such as habitual snoring, restless sleep, and excessive sleepiness will be covered.
