Abstract

It was brought to our attention that our published paper (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0197458015001505) contains a duplication of the images in Fig. 3D (SAF84 immunohistology, TREM2+/+ and TREM2+/- mice). We consulted our experimental records and original data. We found that when assembling the images in Adobe illustrator, we unintentionally copied a SAF84 immunostaining image of a TREM2 heterozygous mouse brain onto that of a TREM2 wild-type brain. According to our prion inoculation table and the histology records, the TREM2+/+ images were taken from the numbered paraffin block AG-67295 whereas the TREM2+/- images were taken from block AG-67292. The hematoxylin-eosin and SAF84 images are derived from consecutive sections of the same brain area, confirming that the duplication originated from an inadvertent editing error. We therefore kindly request that this error be corrected by replacing Figure 3D with the corrected figure. This error does not affect the results of our study or their interpretation.[Figure presented] The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
