Abstract
An automated system was designed and developed to measure spasticity in the thigh musculature of 15 patients with hemiplegia. In addition, each subject was timed during a gait trial over a measured distance at maximum speed. Analysis of the data revealed no statistically significant correlation between spasticity in the thigh musculature and the gait speed of the subjects studied. Factors which may have contributed to the findings are mentioned.
