Abstract

BACKGROUND: Cervical ectopic pregnancy is rare. Early diagnosis is now often possible, enabling conservative treatment. A rare sequela is development of uterine artery pseudoaneurysm. CASE: A 41-year-old woman presented with a cervical ectopic pregnancy at 9 weeks’ gestation. She desired future fertility, and conservative measures were used: intramuscular methotrexate, uterine artery embolization, and intrathoracic KCl injection. She subsequently represented and was diagnosed with a uterine artery pseudoaneurysm. This was conservatively managed with cervical tamponade and bilateral uterine artery and right ovarian artery embolization. Ultimately our patient decided against future fertility and underwent an uncomplicated bilateral tubal ligation. CONCLUSION: Uterine artery pseudoaneurysm is a rare finding. In our patient we believe it was due to her cervical pregnancy. Embolization and cervical tamponade allowed for conservative management.
