Abstract

Defects of the lip present a significant challenge for the reconstructive surgeon. It is important to obtain results that are a success from both an aesthetic and a functional standpoint. We have reviewed how this can be done in a systematic fashion. The given algorithms provide a step-by- step process for decision making. By evaluating each defect in terms of its location, size, and depth, the appropriate reconstructive options can be chosen.
