COMPUTERIZED CARDIOLOGY REPORT GENERATING/DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

Abstract

A report generating/database management system for cardiology tests is described. The system was designed to simplify the production of reports and simultaneously create a cardiology database. Data entry was designed to be attractive to secretaries and was realized utilizing a crt with keyboard entry to a time shared MUMPS system. The MUMPS system is used to enter reports, print reports, preprocess the database for transfer to magnetic tape, and provide categorical data searches. Statistical analyses by means of SAS (Statistical Analysis System) can take place after data are transfered via magnetic tape to an IBM S/360-370 computer. Stress test reports, echocardiogram reports, and cardiac catheterization/coronary angiogram reports are produced using this mechanism. The secretarial time for report generation has been reduced over three-fold and physician acceptance has been good.
