Abstract

During several studies of the collisionally activated decomposition of a variety of compound types, we have observed fragmentation sequences which could formally be described as occurring at sites remote from the site of ionization. An example of this phenomenon is illustrated by the CAD spectrum of the (M-H)** minus anion of long-chained fatty acids, eg. palmitic acid.
