Abstract

Human tissues were collected from various geographical areas in Vietnam in 1984 and analyzed in an isomer specific fashion for the tetra through octa chlorinated dioxins and furans. Some samples were split and analyzed by two laboratories. Samples were coded and sent in a blind fashion to each laboratory. Special attention was given to identification and quantification of 2,3,7,8 TCDD because of its presence in Agent Orange. Vietnamese patients living in Vietnam were of especial significance and interest because of the potential exposure to dioxin from Agent Orange both in the past as well as the time of tissue acquisition.
