    Abstract

Examination of adolescent fathers and an expanded call for further exploration of parenting service provision to adolescent fathers. Providing effective services with a broad reach to adolescent fathers is an important goal as increased evidence supports the benefits of fathers in child and family outcomes, while research continues to identify negative outcomes or risks associated with early parenting. Parenting services and programs have the potential to play a key role at a critical time, surrounding the birth of a father's child when the father is open to services and more likely engaged with the family. This commentary will expand arguments for better services for young fathers, adaptation of parenting interventions to serve fathers, and a framework to engage fathers in services.
