Abstract

Overview In this chapter, we analyze many of the studies included in the scoping review of literature presented in Chapter 1 and offer an analysis of occupational adaptation as an outcome of occupational participation. Occupational adaptation is a construct that can be measured using quantitative tools and qualitative methodologies. Three themes emerged from a review of evidence and research on how occupational adaptation is measured: (1) a measure of relative mastery, (2) a measure of occupational identity and competence, and (3) a measure of adaptive capacity.
