Abstract

Sensor array processing algorithms for source localization often require precise knowledge of the sensor locations, which is usually not available in practice. Errors in the sensor locations have been known to severely degrade the performance of these algorithms. This paper proposes an iterative Newton-type maximum likelihood array sensor location calibration algorithm using known source signals. A Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) expression for the sensor location parameters is found for this problem. Numerical results illustrate that the maximum likelihood calibration algorithm attains the CramBr-Rao bound asymptotically.
