Abstract

In this chapter, we discussed the current state of neuropsychology in Cuba. We presented relevant information on the history of Cuba neuropsychology, the licensure system, neuropsychological services, neuropsychological research, and current challenges and future directions in Cuba. In addition, we addressed the practice of neuropsychology in the context of the Cuban culture by sharing relevant aspects of ethnicity, language, acculturation, religion, education, and population health that shape the practice of neuropsychology in Cuba. Finally, we provided existing efforts to expand training and neuropsychology development in Cuba and provided recommendations for future directions. A case study is also presented aimed to show current standards for neuropsychology evaluation and possible cultural issues that may arise during the evaluation.
