Abstract

A chronically implanted double-barreled chamber recording system is described that permits simultaneous recording of unitary neuronal activity in the cat first and second somatosensory areas. Recording electrodes can be positioned anywhere within the 0.75-in. diameter opening of each barrel. This chamber can also be used to study interactions between these sensory areas and motor or association areas.
