    Personal profile

    Research interests

My research interests focus on the intersection of simulation education and quality improvement.

I have been involved in multiple projects studying the impact of debriefing methodologies on team performance and cognitive load. Additionally, I have led and mentored multiple quality improvement projects and serve as the associate director of quality improvement for the division of pediatric emergency medicine. My recent research focuses on using simulation as a tool to identify latent-safety threats and as an educational intervention in patient safety and quality improvement projects focusing on resuscitation and procedural competency

    Clinical interests

My clinical interests are broad, focusing on pediatric emergency medicine, antibiotic stewardship, and procedural training in residency and fellowship.

    Education activities and interests

I currently serve on the SLCH Simulation Committee and the co-director of simulation for the division of pediatric emergency medicine, designing simulation curricula for the emergency department, fellows, and residents. I am also a faculty instructor for simulation debriefing. I have served as director for pediatric emergency medicine bootcamp, an annual regional course for first-year pediatric emergency medicine fellows.

I have developed a quality improvement curriculum for pediatric hospitalist medicine and emergency medicine fellows, and serve on the advisory board for SLCH pediatric residency quality improvement curriculum.

Additionally, I currently serve on the WashU School of Medicine admissions committee and fellowship director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship.

    Mentoring

Mentoring trainees has been a large part of my career. I have extensive experience mentoring residents and fellows in the following domains: career development, advising related to applications (fellowships and jobs), medical education scholarship, simulation training, and patient safety/quality improvement work
