Our research focus is abnormalities of the airway epithelial cell differentiation that characterize lung diseases such as bronchitis, bronchiectasis, respiratory virus and bacterial infection. We are particularly interested in mechanisms of ciliated cell differentiation and cilia biogenesis. These studies are linked to investigation of the genetic basis of lung disease in patient populations with known or suspected defects in cilia, co-called ciliopathies.
