    Personal profile

    Research interests

My major research interest is on mechanisms and interventions for ischemia-reperfusion injury in the heart. I have utilized genetic manipulation of the fibroblast growth factor 2 gene in animal models to show its importance in cardioprotection from ischemia-reperfusion injury. I am currently focused on developing fibroblast growth factor 2 and fibroblast growth factor receptors as a potential novel therapeutic for acute myocardial infarction. In addition, I am also currently involved in clinical research projects on QTc prolongation, high sensitivity troponin assays, asthma, and heart failure.
