Dr. Klein’s research involves the use of stable isotope tracers to study substrate metabolism in human subjects. His major research interest involves learning how obesity contributes to metabolic disease. His work has increased the understanding of normal adipose tissue physiology, the alterations in fat metabolism associated with obesity and fatty liver disease, and how weight loss improves the metabolic problems caused by obesity. He is also involved in conducting clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of obesity therapies.
