Research interests

Dr. Hayashi is an attending physician in Hematology/Oncology at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hayashi's research interest primarily focuses on issues regarding the long term effects of cancer therapy. His efforts examine the nature and spectrum of clinical conditions that effect childhood cancer survivors with the goal of developing interventions that will improve the outlook of this patient population. He is involved in both institutional and national efforts to gain insight in this rapidly evolving area of investigation and he also directs The Late Effects Clinic at St. Louis Children’s Hospital providing comprehensive care for patients afflicted with a broad scope of conditions. Dr. Hayashi's clinical interests also include bone marrow transplantation, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD). He is actively involved in national trials advancing the treatment of patients in these areas.
