Research interests

Dr. Kotzbauer’s research is focused on Parkinson’s disease and a group of hereditary disorders called Neurodegeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation. The laboratory uses biochemical analysis, cell culture and mouse models to understand disease mechanisms and to develop new therapeutic approaches for these neurodegenerative disorders.
