Research interests

The research in my laboratory focuses on the recognition of antigen by T cells.   One aspect of our research involves determining the molecular basis for alloreactivity.  We have shown that alloreactivity involves the recognition by the TCR of endogenous peptides bound to allogeneic MHC molecules with a high degree of specificity.  To compare this recognition to conventional TCR recognition of pMHC, we have generated T cells for which we have defined both self and allogeneic ligands.  We have recently shown in a mouse model that T cells expressing two TCRs, have a much higher degree of alloreactivity in vitro and in graft versus host disease, and are now extending these findings to human GvHD patients.
