My speech perception laboratories are in the Department of Otolaryngology at Washington University School of Medicine located at the Central Institute for the Deaf. There are three separate labs, each with a specific focus. The adult audiovisual speech perception lab is focused on the study of audiovisual integration and age, speechreading, and the benefits associated with the addition of visual speech in those with impaired hearing or other speech perception deficits. The auditory training lab is focused on training adults to use their hearing aid or cochlear implant to the fullest potential. Finally, the children's speech perception lab is currently investigating language development among children with mild to profound hearing losses.
