Michael K. Pasque, MD, Professor of Surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Pasque is the director of the Myocardial Mechanics Laboratory at Washington University. He has focused upon the extension of engineering methodologies to the characterization of the systolic and diastolic function of the human heart in the clinical setting. His research is directed toward the use of mathematical modeling and engineering analyses to solve actual clinical problems. The recent use of Dr. Pasque’s large Normal Human Strain Database to normalize multiple strain parameters represents a logical progression of his foundational myocardial mechanics investigations. This progression has given his laboratory the ability to implement the first clinically applicable multiparametric strain analysis of the human left ventricular myocardium.
Adult cardiac surgery, adult heart transplantation.
