Dr. de las Fuentes’ ongoing clinical and translational research projects investigate the role played by common genetic variants in myocardial metabolism genes in modulating the hypertensive cardiovascular disease phenotype in humans. Of particular interest are the genetic, metabolic, and environmental predictors of left ventricular hypertrophy, left ventricular dysfunction, and vascular hypertrophy.
