The goal of Dr Tychsen’s clinical research is improving outcomes in visually-impaired children, through: 1. Surgical repair of vision in children with multiple handicaps, including prematurity, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and autism; 2. Refractive surgery (laser and intraocular implants) for amblyopia in children who have difficulties wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses; and 3. Eye muscle surgery for children who have strabismus and nystagmus.
