Personal profile
Research interests
We are studying complications of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Our current focus is the cardiovascular complications including vascular calcification. We have determined the mechanism of hyperphosphatemia as a cardiovascular risk factor in CKD, and in translational animal studies have promising new therapeutic approaches to vascular calcification and the bone and mineral disorders of CKD. We are preparing for clinical trials of cardiovascular outcomes in CKD and for new therapeutic agents.
Clinical interests
Pediatric and adult kidney disease, chronic kidney diseases, kidney stones, the CKD-MBD, vascular calcification, kidney tubulointerstitial disease, tubulointerstitial fibrosis, transplantation of neocartilage, hyperparathyroidism, calcium and phosphorus metabolism, diabetic nephropathy
