    Research interests

    We are interested in glycobiology i.e. the structure, synthesis and function of carbohydrates on glycoproteins. We have focused on unique Asn-linked carbohydrate structures that are found on glycoprotein hormones including luteinizing hormone, thryoid stimulating hormone, and prolactin-like proteins. We have shown that these structures are recognized by carbohydrate specific receptors that regulate their circulatory half life following secretion into the blood. We have shown that these carbohydrates and their receptors play central role in vertebrate reproduction.
